It’s time to stop judging people by their circumstances.

A year ago our family was facing a situation that many people could not even imagine…

We were homeless. My wife and I, 8 kids, and two dogs.

We had been evicted from the home we were renting because we lost our primary income and could no longer afford it. Even so, we were doing everything we could to make the payments. But then the landlord raised the rent by 30% (the justification was that it was the “market rate” for the size of the house) — knowing that we couldn’t afford it, but had nowhere else to go. …

Why Facebook and Twitter are Not Violating Your Rights

There’s been a lot of talk lately about Social Media censorship, curbing “free speech,” and banning or deleting accounts that are in “violation of their policies.” It might not seem fair or right to you, especially in America — a country whose foundation is built on the ideals of Freedom of Speech — but it is perfectly legal, and one could even argue, even a protection of our right to express ourselves freely.

It’s easy to get caught up in the idea these large corporations have a hidden agenda and are trying to control the flow of information in their…

No, it’s not “wash your hands.”

There is a powerful concept I want to share with you that could change your life forever. In fact, it has the power to fix everything that is wrong in the entire world, starting with you and your family, at home, right now.

You see, there is a virus that has been eating its way through our society. This invisible enemy has been making people sick by the millions, maybe by the billions. In truth, we don’t really know for sure how much it has spread because people can walk around infected, meanwhile infecting people without really realizing it.

People…

Let’s be clear on one thing: Technology doesn’t solve problems. People do.

The sooner you accept that, the better your life will be. Because, whether your recognize it or not, every time you use a piece of tech to solve a problem, whether it be software or hardware, you are creating just as many, if not more problems to solve. You may ultimately solve the problem you set out to solve, but at the cost of having to solve other problems. Some of those problems have already been solved for you by others, but you still have to find them…

It’s 6 A.M. and I’m awake. No alarm necessary because my mind has already been spinning for the last hour or so.

Are we really doing this?

As the back part of my brain is still cataloging all of our stuff to make sure we didn’t forget anything, the front part of my brain is trying to calculate exactly how long it’s been since we did something like this…

Let’s see, there’s 2001, when we went out to the Olympic Coast… No, we had our cell phones with us. …

Anonymity may be the worst thing that happened to the Internet

Let’s just say, for a moment that we all walked around with masks on when we went into public. We could reveal our identity if we wanted to, but we wouldn’t be required to unless we were arrested or something.

Would we act differently? Absolutely!

How do I know? Because that’s exactly what we do online.

On forums and some comment sections, we are allowed to post anonymously, and feel we can say just about anything we want. …

Why I’ll Never Buy the Latest, Greatest Smartphone… Ever

In case you weren’t paying attention, Apple just released it’s latest slew of iPhones this month. Inevitably, it makes us look at our existing equipment and think, “Hmm, I could use and upgrade!”

So I scroll through the myriad of new phone options, shopping for a replacement to my aging, but beloved iPhone 5S, I am struck by something…

They’re all basically the same!

Aside from the numbers listed, like Processor, RAM, pixels, etc., that most people don’t even understand, they all effectively look and function the same way.

Actually, this is something that’s been bugging me for a while…

How Tech Addiction Affects Us All

Can I share a secret with you?

I’ve been silently dealing with tech burnout for years now. Quite a thing to admit, I know — for someone who makes his living working with technology.

The truth is, though, I didn’t even admit it to myself until just recently. I was trying to ignore it, hoping it was just a passing phase… figuring I would eventually snap out of it. But instead, it got worse.

It got to the point that I dreaded even opening up my laptop to check email. But I had to, and old habits die hard. …

Stronger than coffee, money or love.

When you wake up in the morning, what is the first thing on your mind?

Maybe it’s breakfast… or coffee! (Ahhh, coffee.)

Maybe you get up early enough to have some quiet time all to yourself. Or maybe you’re one of those people who like to hit the gym first-thing. Maybe you love your job. Or maybe you hate it, but you still need the paycheck so you can go out on the weekend and do what you really love.

Then again, maybe you’re in a situation where all you can think about is just getting through the day —…

Is it effective, or just a modern version of the lynch mob?

Viral videos are becoming an epidemic. I would be willing to bet that at this very moment someone is pulling out a smartphone, hoping that his or her video will “go viral.”

It’s a strange phenomenon, but it’s not really that new. A lot of people will do almost anything for their moment in the spotlight. Our modern devices just facilitate this in a different way.

The interesting thing about having a viral video is that it is not so much about the content as it is bragging rights. Because no one can really control whether a video “goes viral”…
